Automotive News has made changes to its editorial team and additions to its sales staff.
On the editorial side:
Dave Versical becomes director of editorial operations for the Automotive News Group, including Automotive News Europe and Automotive News Canada. Versical, 61, joined Automotive News in 1986 and most recently has overseen its Detroit-based print and digital properties. He takes over global editorial responsibilities from Jason Stein, who after more than seven years as editor and nearly four as editor and publisher will focus solely on the publishing side of the business and the continued expansion of the Automotive News Group.
Shiraz Ahmed becomes assistant editor for mobility, part of a team of reporters and editors focused on the automobile’s role in a rapidly changing transportation world. Ahmed, 26, joined Automotive News in 2013 and last year created the “Futurismo” podcast series.
Luca Ciferri, 57, adds the title of associate publisher of Automotive News Europe while remaining editor of the publication. He began writing for Automotive News from Italy in 1988.
John Cerne is a regional sales rep in Detroit.
On the sales side:
John Cerne, 47, has joined as a regional sales representative in Detroit. He has held automotive account responsibilities for the New York Times, Microsoft and, most recently, ViralGains. Cerne has also worked at ad agencies Team Detroit, Ford Motor Media and McCann Erickson.
Rob Couto, 51, has also joined as a regional sales representative in Detroit. He held similar roles most recently at The Wall Street Journal and previously at Time Inc., Turner Broadcasting and MTV Networks. Couto’s advertising career started with agencies J. Walter Thompson and Campbell Ewald.
